FS provides environmental control for most campus buildings, including the adjustment of thermostats upon request. However, because HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems vary widely from one building to the next, the level of environmental control we can provide also varies.
To request a temperature adjustment, call the Work Order Desk at (575) 646-7114 or go to the work order request page. If you wish to discuss a persistent problem or if you have a technical question, feel free to call our Engineering section at (575)646-5303.
FS can install most types of equipment, from delivery to assembly and hooking up any needed utilities. (Two exceptions are telephones and computers, which are supported by Computing and Networking.) FS must be involved in any installation requiring modification of utility systems or facilities. The requesting department is usually responsible for the cost of such modifications.
For simple installations, e.g., a new electrical outlet for your copy machine, call the Work Order Desk at (575)646-7114 or go to the work order request page. For larger projects, e.g., a dedicated circuit for your copy machine or a different voltage, we suggest you contact our Project Management section at (575)646-7722. They can help you determine the scope of work involved and if necessary provide a cost estimate.

Organic materials generated on campus, such as leaves, branches, grass clippings, and biosolids from livestock, are now turned into mulch and compost. These materials are returned to use on campus by PPD Landscape Management, completing the recycling loop. Research into the beneficial uses of processed organic materials is in progress, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and organizations interested in exploring this rapidly growing field.
No drop offs accepted. For more information, call Solid Waste Management at (575)646-8159.
FS personnel are capable of repairing a wide variety of fixtures and equipment. The cost of repairing departmental equipment is the department’s responsibility. Repair of permanent fixtures is generally the responsibility of PPD. In some cases, however, the cost of a major repair may exceed the funding PPD has available to cover it. In such cases, repairs may be deferred until funding becomes available. Minor repairs can usually be taken care of immediately.
If you need something repaired, go to the work order request page or call the Work Order Desk at (575)646-7114.
Solid Waste Disposal
